Below is my Language Arts Relection. It is a summary of the skills I have used this year to create my favorite writing piece, My Dog Lucy.

Picture a barren wasteland with no food, smiles, or maps. This is a world without writing. Without writing we have no food, because we would have no recipes to make any. There would be no smiles, because you can’t have smiles without books. And we’d have no maps, because you can’t have maps without writing, either. We wouldn’t know anything about our history, because no one could write it down. We wouldn’t know any information at all. We need writing in our lives, and without any skills to help make our writing better, we will live in a barren wasteland. Writing is a necessity for life, just like water, air, food, and shelter.

I used many skills to create my first writing piece, My Dog Lucy. I love this piece as much as my favorite food. This writing piece was about how I got my dog, Lucy, and I loved writing about it. My dog is a cute little black mutt, and I’ve loved her ever since I laid eyes on her. I really wanted to honor her with a great piece, and that’s exactly how it turned out. The first skill that I had to use for this piece was generating a topic. The way that you generate a topic is by writing down many things that you love, and the first thing that came to my mind was my beloved dog Lucy. I then had to think about a small, clear moment that I had with Lucy, and I couldn’t think of anything better than when I got her. When I zoomed in on the moment that meant the most to me, it was nothing other than the time that I first saw her. I also had to think of a small idea, and that’s just what I did. I couldn’t write small moment writing with a big topic, such as a whole day, so I chose riding in the car to get the house where the puppy was, and then meeting her. I then wrote many details, so that it felt real to the reader, and that it almost plays as a movie in their mind.

I’m very proud of my writing, and I became a better writer because of it. I think the skills that I did the best were finding a small moment and creating very clear details about it. I loved the way that it made the writing feel like a movie in your mind. I think that I could improve on conversation, though. I didn’t have much conversation, and I think I could have showed what the person was doing a little clearer. I also didn’t have much sentence variety. All my sentences started the same way, and it made the writing a little boring. If I were to do this piece again, I would definitely improve the conversation and the sentences.

Here is my favorite writing piece from this year, My Dog Lucy.
